    After the pandemic threatened Rocco's, owner Kevin Cujat pays it forward to people facing food insecurity.

    Money can't buy everything, but it can buy Jell-O shots.Rocco's manager Pat McEvoy came up with the challenge in which fan bases buy pre-packaged shots charged in their team's name during the College World Series. This year, Arkansas and Ole Miss fans drove the scoreboard into the thousands, so owner Kevin Culjat is spreading the wealth to each school's food pantry."I just read what they did, how they did it," Culjat said. "It wasn't just the students, but a lot of the people that work at the university—their lives were changed and the university closed and they're trying to catch up. And that was big for me too."Culjat almost closed Rocco's during the pandemic. At one point, he and manager Pat McEvoy, who came up with the challenge, were the only employees on staff."Nothing I've ever done in my life will ever be as popular as this thing is now," McEvoy said.University of Arkansas junior Victoria Savage has volunteered for two years at the Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Food Pantry. She's now the volunteer coordinator who sees her position as an opportunity to start her career."Food insecurity is still it's still a stigmatized subject, so if people are willing to come here to receive help, we would love to make it as comfortable as possible," Savage said.The junior described using the proceeds from Rocco's to improve the facility's facade, located at an old building on campus. Savage says it can be easy to miss."That's why we really want to also improve the outside of the pantry because we have a garden outside and we have lockers," Savage said.In Omaha, the last team to win the College World Series title was Mississippi State. The Bulldogs also happen to be the most recent team to win Rocco's Jell-O shot challenge.Coincidence or superstition?Ole Miss beat Arkansas to face Oklahoma for the 2022 title.
